Sweet Buns and the Thumb

Kennedy's thumb and sweet buns have been companions since she was 4 months old.

When she turned 5, we decided it was high time to kick the habit.
On the night of her birthday, we put painters tape on her thumb and she went the entire night not sucking her thumb!
She did this for months until she was confident she could go without the tape.
Finally, when the tape was off, it was time for her reward!

This was such a big deal, that we wanted the reward to be special.
We told her she could get her ears pierced.
It took quite a while for her to work up the nerve to do it.
But the Friday before Easter, she decided it was time.

Getting ready for her turn!

And after!

I was going to take pictures of the scream feast that happened right after,
but I opted to hold her hand and hug her instead.
She was pretty mad at first but it didn't take long for her to get over the pain
and look at herself in every mirror and window we passed in the mall.

Of course, we had to have ice cream for being so brave.

Lucy, 2 more years and you're next!

We are so proud of her!

Hmmm, I may have to borrow that painter's tape idea for Sheridan's thumb. That relationship needs to GO! Your girls are so cute!
